Community-engaged master plans are comprehensive, long-term documents that guide planning for the physical, social, and economic development of a particular community. They prioritize input from the residents, as well as government and other stakeholders. The plans showed below were developed through a collaborative process that included public meetings and workshops, resident surveys and interviews, and collaborative design sessions to ensure that the vision, values, and priorities of the community were fully integrated. Planners, designers, students, and University faculty worked alongside community members to identify challenges, set goals, and create strategies related to proposed land use, housing and transportation options, public spaces, sustainable green infrastructure, and robust economic development. The purpose of creating these community-engaged master plans was to establish a shared roadmap that reflects the collective aspirations of the people who live and work in the affected area. The master plans promote transparency and trust between residents, government agencies and commercial interests through involving multiple voices. These plans serve as decision-making tools for local governments, nonprofits, and developers. They help to align policy, investment, and design with community needs. Ultimately, these community-focused master plans not only envision future growth but also strengthen civic engagement and stewardship, making communities more resilient and reflective of their unique features and needs.
